Sucker Rod

The sucker rod is an important component of the rod pumping equipment. Sucker rods are connected into a sucker rod string through couplings. At the upper end, it is connected to the pumping unit or the screw pump motor via a polished rod, and at the lower end, it is connected to the plunger of the submersible pump or the screw pump. Its function is to transmit the reciprocating motion of the polished rod hanger at the horsehead of the surface pumping unit to the downhole submersible pump, or to transmit the rotational torque of the screw pump motor to the downhole screw pump. Sucker rods are classified according to their mechanical properties into Class C, Class K, Class D, Class KD, Class HL, and Class HY sucker rods.
